Vicinay Chain Company Officially Opens New Corpus Christi Manufacturing Plant
Vicinay Chain Company, Inc., recently opened the firm's new manufacturing plant in Corpus Christi, Texas, with an official inauguration. Larry Moncus, president of Vicinay Chain Company and Vicinay International Company, presided during the ceremonies and introduced the members of the firm, including Gaspar Vicinay, general director of Vicinay S.A., Bilbao, Spain. Harry Plomarity, port director for the Nueces County Navigation District of Corpus Christi, cut a rope supporting a chain stretched across the plant entrance to mark the formal plant opening.
The new chain manufacturing plant occupies 32,000 square feet on a 10-acre tract within Corpus Christi's Rincon Industrial Park. This site was selected because of the climate, proximity to the Gulf Coast offshore drilling industry, skilled labor market, and availability of rail, surface and water transportation.
The present plant capacity is for chain up to 4-inch diameter, with an annual production capacity of 12,000 tons. When fully equipped, the facility, built with $5 million of Spanish capital, will have an annual capacity of 20,000 tons. Vicinay S.A., Bilbao, Spain, is the world's largest manufacturer of anchors and anchor chain. Vicinay International Company, 6610 Harwin, Suite 110, Houston, Texas 77036, has the marketing responsibilities for the new plant.
